O level results, the interview

24 January 2008, 2,00 pm, Bedok View Secondary School hall

That is the time and date for me to take my O level result. Let me tell you that I'm very nervous and even decided to try to take it the next day which is on Friday, unfortunately my dad saw the news that the MOE will release it on Thursday and I got no choice but to take it on Thursday.

As the released time for the result is at 2 pm I decided that I'll take it at 2.45 after the principal finished his speech and again I couldn't come at late beacuse Riz called me and asked me if I will be able to go for the interview at 4.30, I agreed to come.

Before taking it I simply didn't know what to do. Whenever I read the newspaper, there are always advertisement about open house and schools which makes me even more nervous. I mean it is like everyday, each time I open it, the schools ad will always be there. Worst still on the Thursday edition, they featured some of the most popular private schools and they even feature some of the students about the life at their school.

Each time I look out of the window, I would see students heading to the school. I thought they must be eager to see their results. What makes them eager? I don't know, maybe they already knew that they will fare good?

It makes me wonder, what will happen to me if I fail my English Language? It means that It will be difficult for me to apply to Stansfield or Broward College which requires 3 and 4 O level passes.

I read the results slip and I passed my English with a grade of C5 and was very disappointed for my Design & Technolgy grade as I failed it with a D7 grade. After sacrificing my time and Saturdays just to go to the school workshop to complete my project I get a D7 grade.

A pass would be a fair grade, at least.

The interview at Stansfield...

It was bad.

There were 2 persons at the room. One an Indian man and the other is a Chinese.

They asked me about why choose accounting,who told you about the school and ect.

I think they knew that I didn't fully understand how the system work, like what will you be doing at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd year at the college. I said that I will be doing higher and higher stuffs each year and guess what? They then gave me that ' is this boy for real ' face. Then the chinese man go on and tell me the whole thing.

The Indian man asked me this what is the answer for this question (a + b)^3 ? I said a^3 + 3ab + b^3 . I knew it was wrong as I anyhow answered it as I didn't know the answer. He then told me it was wrong and gave me 2 choices:

A) I give you a pen and paper and you try solving it.

B) You say I don't know and don't try the question.

I chose option B.

After the interview ended, I asked Riz about the question, he told me always to choose option A. Why? Because at least you tried the question and if you choose B you will be a follower and follow people without making a stand for yourself.

I failed that question.

Australian Open was over and I will be back to another boring and lonely months and weeks.

My Holiday!

Hi everyone!

I'm back from my holidays and I really want to share it.

I went to Jakarta,Indonesia and when we(family) reached there,my father took us to a reastaurant called Rasane.It is a seafood restaurant and I love seafood!

I went to 'Banten' which is a very big temple and there were fields(below) all around it.



We went to 'Puncak'. Well...it was a very far place from Jakarta and we decided to stay for 1 night and after that head to Bandung.I wanted to eat the porridge there but it was close,I really like the porridge there.But I ate in 'Kalimantan' restaurant which we always do when we reached there.I went to temple again,it was my 1st time there and it was nice.The temple(below) is like in the middle of a forest.



I stayed in a hotel called Yasmin hotel and there were connect doors.That is the hall and the other one is the new hotel itself.

We went to Bandung.I had been there twice already and it is really a nice city.Stayed at 'Padgehar' hotel and that is the view,out of the window.It really rained a lot there,which is unpleasant.


back to Jakarta......

I love the doughnuts there beside 'Dungkins Doughnuts' there is another one called J.Co(Below).I like the almond flavour.From the basement carpark you can smell the doughnuts already. J.Co was popular in Indonesia,you will see that every J.Co shop that opened have long line of people waiting to buy them.Just like BreadTalk when they 1st open.


istmas tree in it.My favourite shopping mall is 'Mall Taman Anggrek' and the Christmas tree(below) is beautiful.It wasn't just any ordinary tree.The tree was made up of dolls.All from the cartoon characters - Looney Tunes.I only remember that the 1st layer is all tweety dolls.There were Bugs Bunny,Slyvester and Tazmanian Devil on it.



Other Malls had Christmas tree inside too.The one one the left is from 'Senayan' City Mall,the right is from 'BSD Junction'

Beside shopping,I watched a lot of movies too.Altogether I watched 8 shows.They were Casino Royale,The Black Dahlia,Deja Vu,Battle Of Wits,Eragon,The Curse Of The Golden Flower,An Incovenient Truth and Night At The Museum.I watched mostly in Entertainment Centre(EX) next to Plaza Indonesia.The seats(below left) was big,the distance between each row was wide.There are bowling arenas too(left).I never actually played bowling before.The most exciting show is Casino Royale,Night At The Museum is funny.The boring one was An Incovenient Truth,you know I was happy that the theather was almost empty when I came in,the truth was the show was boring.It is a mixture of Geography and Science,telling us about Global Warming.I know that the show was useful but I was in no mood to learn them while on holidays,haha!The middle picture was my seat number,got nothing better to do.



I saw Anggun in EX,she was meeting her fans,taking pictures with them and sighning autographs.By the way she was Indonesia international artise.

Time was really flying,the next thing I knew,I was on my way to Singapore.I wish there weren't any Sec 3 prep workshop earlier.I guessed spending holiday there is really nice.There are no stress at all.Now in Singapore I have to worry for my O'Levels,there will be no more movies,going to Malls and having fun,it wil be study,study,study.Plus,my tuition teacher kept on giving me lots of pressure and stress,she nearly 'faint' when I told her how bad I fared for my End of year results.

My father wants me to go JC but I'am not thinking about it yet,O'Levels 1st then choose schools.

I wish everyday are holidays.

Missing all my friends! Hope they too had a good holidays.
